One of the important tasks was to analyze the pros and cons of each fabric and laminate to narrow down our selection to one. After scrutinizing their individual properties and the requirements of the project, we selected nylon canvas as the fabric and latex as the laminator.

Canvas is a very strong and durable fabric; however, it is very heavy, and it would not solve our purpose to minimize the weight of the bucket, hence we selected nylon canvas (a type of canvas). Nylon is a lightweight strong fabric, so nylon canvas would be stronger than simple nylon, and it is lighter than cotton canvas.

Moreover, latex was the best option in our perspective, as being rubber, it is naturally waterproof, and it is elastic. Elasticity of latex is a very big advantage as it suggests that it won’t break or develop cracks under high water pressure unlike beeswax which becomes brittle when it dries. Liquid latex could be painted on the fabric very easily and it would be non-toxic as well as it is natural rubber.
