FEDD Experience

The Buckaneers were a part of the afternoon session. We all came professionally dressed with our bucket and poster in hand. The buckets were all tested in the center of the fabric bucket section of Room B, which was intimidating to say the least. The first team's bucket was the one to beat. When we went up to test our bucket we were all just happy that our bucket met the minimum requirement of holding at least one galloon of water for one minute without leaking, which was sadly not the case for all of the other groups. However, we ended up beating the first group's mass of most water held with a total of 48.5 pounds of water. We also got two multipliers added in our final score, one for the best poster and a second one for the most amount of water held. Our design placed second overall for our session and fell short of first place by 1.321 points. Overall, we were extremely happy with our score and placement. It was great getting recognition for our hard work.
One of the only things we would have changed about our design is making the sides of the bucket at least two inches longer; this small change would have gotten us first place.
One of my favorites parts of FEDD was walking around after we were done being judged to the other projects. I found the fountains particularly interesting. It was easy to see how much work each of the groups had put into their projects, whether that was a 3D printed object, concrete canoe, or any of the other projects.
